About Microblading in Bend, Oregon
Trust Melanie Kehoe to give your brows the perfect shape with Microblading!
Do your eyebrows lack shape, definition or any hair at all? Microblading, a new beauty option, offers a solution you’ll have a hard time believing isn’t magic. Micbroblading Bend Oregon is a safe, semi-permanent technique. The enhancement looks natural and can hide common eyebrow imperfections including gaps between the hairs, scars, thinness in shape and more.
At Monolith Tattoo Studio, we make our clients comfortable with the application of an anesthetic numbing cream to the brows. Then, the microblading technique begins by measuring and mapping out the ideal brow shape for your specific face shape and desired design. Melanie measures where each part of the brow begins, arches and ends and then use a brow pencil to outline the desired brows. Melanie then uses a manual hand tool to create "microstrokes" that resemble realistic hair. When the process is finished, expect to leave with a pair of soft, realistic brows that will last anywhere from nine months to two years.
Now that you can take advantage of Microblading Bend Oregon, you’ll be asking yourself why you didn’t decide to try this beauty treatment sooner. Stop drawing in or filling your eyebrows with different gels and powders and book a free consultation now.

Learn More About Microblading
What is microblading?
Microblading (also referred to as Microstroking, Eyebrow Embroidery, Feather Stroke Brows, 3D Brows, micropigmentation, etc) is the process of manually implanting color pigment beneath the surface of the skin, into the epidermis, by means of tiny, sterile, disposable needles to produce the appearance of hair strokes.
Is it tattooing?
The term microblading has grown in popularity, which has also led to false believe that microblading is not a tattoo process. Permanent cosmetics, micropigmentation, dermal implantation, microblading/microstroking, eyebrow embroidery and long-time/long-lasting makeup, are all different names for the same procedure – cosmetic tattooing. Any time pigment is placed into the skin with any device, it is a tattoo process as defined by regulators, the medical community and dictionary sources. Denying this process is a tattoo can be problematic for those who would, for religious or other personal reasons, normally refuse to have a tattoo. The purpose of cosmetic tattooing is to enhance the natural features of a client. Cosmetic tattooing is softer and more subtle – it is meant to be a natural-looking enhancement. Body tattoos use ink, while cosmetic tattoo procedures involve pigments. These pigments are designed to gently fade over time. Fading is desired as it allows the artist to make changes to colour and shape over the years as client’s natural colouration and facial changes occur.
Do my existing eyebrows need to be shaved off?
Absolutely not! Please, do not tweeze, thread, wax or modify your eyebrows in any way for as long as possible, and no sooner than two weeks. The beginning of your service includes a brief consultation, followed by shaping and a discussion about color. Regular eyebrow maintenance may continue once the brows have healed.
Is it painful?
A highly-effective, topical anesthetic cream and gel are used for numbing before and during your procedure. Pain threshold levels vary from person to person and every effort is made to ensure you remain comfortable for the entirety of the procedure. Pre-Care Instructions are designed and MUST BE STRICTLY FOLLOWED to limit bleeding and skin sensitivities during the service. Excessing bleeding and sensitivity during the procedure will dilute and expel the pigment color and lead to poor results. * Having this service performed during your menstrual cycle may increase discomfort during your procedure. * If you are a frequent smoker the topical anesthetics used during the treatment may not last as long and also can lead to poor retention and poor lasting results. * If you have been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, be aware that this may affect your sensitivity tolerance to the procedure.
How long is the healing process?
It is normal to experience minimal swelling and tenderness immediately following your microblading treatment. This usually subsides within an hour or two. The first week, the pigment appears much darker than how it will once healed. Around week two, the skin naturally exfoliates and sheds. During weeks 4-8, when the skin completes healing, the pigment becomes more visible. A follow-up enhancement session visit, approximately 8-weeks after your initial appointment is necessary in order to achieve that richness of color and density in the shape.
How many treatments are needed?
Microblading is a multiple-step appointment process. For microblading, at least two appointments are needed initially, each appointment being 6-10 weeks apart. At the second session, we assess the color retention and make adjustments as necessary. Everyone heals differently and at different rates. If your microblading does not heal perfectly the first time, do not worry! We can always go bolder and add more density at your next appointment.
How long does microblading last?
Microblading eyebrows is a maintenance service. How long between appointments will be up to the individual: how they care for their brows, their skin type, and how they want their brows to look. Microblading typically requires two sessions to complete most brows. The first session is used to create the shape and apply the first layer of pigment and texture. Each client heals and retains pigment differently. Once healed, you return in 6-10 weeks for an additional perfecting and layering session to complete your brows. Clients may need or desire a third session, but this is on a case by case basis. Maintenance is recommended every 12-24 months.
What factors effect microblading?
Sun exposure softens the look of your tattoo, so a physical sunscreen should be used (once healed) to prolong your enhancement. The longer the skin regeneration takes, the longer the pigment holds. The slower the absorption, the longer the pigment will hold. Some colors may fade quicker than others, e.g. a blonde pigment may fade quicker than a dark brunette pigment. Any bleeding during the tattooing procedure will reduce the amount of pigment absorption. Caffeine, alcohol, and certain medications act as blood-thinners and should avoided 48-hours prior to your appointment.
How old do I need to be to have my eyebrows microbladed?
You must be 18 years old to get any Cosmetic Tattoo in the state of Oregon and show proof of age with a government issued ID.
Can I get microblading done if I'm pregnant or nursing?
As a precaution, we don't perform microblading or cosmetic tattooing on women who are pregnant or nursing.
What should I do before my appointment?
If you have an ideal shape and color in mind, please bring a couple reference photos to your appointment or bring in your brow makeup. You may fill in your eyebrows as you normally would so we may take that into consideration. If you regularly get your eyebrows shaped, waxed, threaded or tinted, please refrain from doing so within a week of your appointment. If there are any stray hairs that fall outside of our final shape, we can remove them. Avoid any blood thinning medication for a minimum of 48-hours prior to their appointment. Don't drink any alcohol or caffeine 48-hours prior to your appointment. No Botox for 2 months prior to microblading and No Botox 4-weeks after microblading. If you have been on prescription Accutane in the past, you MUST wait at least one year before considering this procedure. Avoid sun and tanning bed exposure for 30 days before and after your procedure.
How will it look after?
Your brows will appear darker and more intense than expected for the first week or so. This gradually lightens during the complete healing process. Please consult our detailed Before & Aftercare Instructions.
How will my microbladed brows look in the future?
During your appointment, we analyze your skin tone to anticipate how pigment colors will heal and fade. We also mix pigments to ensure the color blends well with your natural hair and skin color. Color may fade to different tones according to the individual’s response to the pigments. Many factors affect these changes. At your follow up appointment, we re-analyze how your body has responded to the initial color. If needed, special formula alterations to correct the color are made. Your eyebrows will eventually look softer and have more of a "powdered" look. To keep your brows looking their best, a refresher appointment is suggested every 12 months.
What about long-term care?
The color lightens over time. We recommend an annual touch up to keep brows looking their best. Fading greatly depends on your skin type, lifestyle, sun exposure, pigment color used, broken capillaries, iron deficiency, and if any chemical peels were done after your procedure.
Should I have my eyebrows microbladed?
If you have extremely oily skin, the microblading technique may not work well for you. The constant production of oil causes the hairstrokes to heal with a diffused, softer look. Your end result may look more powdered instead of a crisp hair stroke appearance. If you are over the age of 50 or have sun damaged skin Microblading might not be the technique for you. For those with Oily or Mature Skin I recommend the Powder Brow technique which is natural shading done with a tattoo machine to achieve that soft "powder brow look.
